Spark Plugs

I'm going to replace the spark plugs and cap+rotor.I was thinking about using platinum plugs but I was told by a mech.,that Ford doesn't recommend using platinum plugs.True or false?

1995 F150 5.8L. 4X4

I would'nt be suprised that it's true but i'm not sure. Stick with what it calls for you to use! I tried the platinums once they did'nt last long before i took them out IMO they're junk.

From what I've read the platinum plugs are good in a F.I. engine but not so hot usually in a carb engine. F.I. runs leaner and fuel map is more accurate.

I ran a set of Bosch Platinums once, won;t ever do that again, after 1500 miles I had bad hesitation and really bad fuel mileage, I pull the 2.79 a piece plugs and put the motorcrafts in... My EFI 351 eats any plug other than motorcraft.
