Hello Everyone,
I'm having some trouble with the fuel system. I have a 1996 F250,2WD,7.5L and 2 tanks. The problem I have is, when under a heavy throttle condition such as merging into highway or passing, the "excess" gas from the rear tank is going into the front tank.
I would start with the rear tank, and when driving to pass or merge I would notice that after a little bit of doing this, my gas gauge shows a pretty good amount of fuel used. Thinking that is normal for the size of my engine, would refuel and be on my way. One day I switched to the front tank that had about a 1/4 tank just a couple of days ago only to find my missing gas! The front has about 1/2 tank of gas and I did not put gas in the front tank!
Another problem I have with the rear tank is sometimes driving down the road, truck would buck, stall and start right up without turning the key. Don't know if there is a connection with all of my problems. The fuel filter on the rail was replaced as part of my normal maintenance.
Yep.. and if it happens at all it's happening all the time at all engine speeds. The check valves that are supposed to prevent this are located inside the fuel delivery module inside each tank so you'll have to drop the tank to fix it.
