Is there a modification or alteration that can be made in order to modernize the windshield wiper attachments on my 1968 F100?
Yes there is.. use the wipers arms from a 91-96 F-Series truck. Refer to tbear's link in the Tech Info Compilation. The arms need to be disassembled and shortened like two inches or so.
I did the mod to my '70 and can now buy low buck blades from Walmart since OEM-sized refills are hard to find in my area. ..and buying nice blades makes little sense for use over a couple of months until they are roasted by the CA sun.
You can also upgrade to intermittent wipers by swiping the switch and control box from a '78 or '79 truck. The swap is plug and play for those two years. You can also use a switch from up to '86, but the washer switch needs to be rewired.
Twist the **** to determine if it has intermittent wipers. It will act like a headlight switch. Remove the instrument panel, and the switch and control box are right there. Don't forget to wire in the ground when you install it in your dash. The **** will also stick out further than the original one. It can be shortened if it bothers you.
