2017 tailgate same as 2008-2016?

I have been shopping for a 08-16 tailgate for my 2006 and came across a deal on a 2017. Do these fit the same as the 08-16 with the part change? I did some searching but doesn't seem to be any information out there yet on the 2017 tailgates.

Nope, they are completely different. Tailgates from 1999-2016 are compatible, but the '17 redesign is all-new. The '17 has an aluminum body and tailgate, which wouldn't fit your truck.

Measure the width of the tailgate, also measure at the hinge from one side to the other, then measure from top to bottom as well as the hinge to the latch on the side of the tailgate.
Hope this makes sense.

You may run into a problem at the sides of the tailgate where the 08 to 16 gate has a slight curve on each side, where as the 2017 gate appears to be straight on the sides.

I'm thinking it most likely won't work, may be worth a try though.
