In CA the 2000 V10 was considered a heavy duty vehicle, so the State recognizes it as OBD I testing requirements, but local shops seem to think they'll get an error if they test OBD I so they test it as OBD II and get fail notices...
Here it's the smog testing shops you fight with more than the state.
Are vehicles are still registered in TX and we don't plan to change it anytime soon. However, our insurance is in PA because it is less than half the price.
Went to the DMV 10 minutes before they opened. 10 mins later, I walked out a happy man. EX is good as a passenger SUV, no emissions required, and my plates are good through Jan 2019
The people at the DMV here were not rude or unfriendly in any way. Its just their lacking of "thinking outside the box" mentality that drives people nuts. But that might be just me too, as I have to almost always think differently when coming up with innovative solutions at work
Since I'm in the city I still have to register every 2 years, but there is no weight class or different plates BS along with NO testing of any kind! The 2000 Ex I bought and fixed up a few months ago literally took me 10 mins at the DMV to change ownership.
If you live in other parts of the state, if the car/truck is over 7 years old you can pay a 1 time fee for LIFETIME registration
Just renewed my Ex by mail, $170 and good for 2 years again.
Don't mean to hijack this thread or anything but I'm just curious if there are any special requirements for registering an Excursion in California.
Smog check, weight restrictions etc...
EDIT
I should have mentioned I'm looking at getting a 6.0...
