Hi there, I recently bought an 84 f250 6.9 with a banks sidewinder kit installed. This is my first diesel and first Ford I have ever owned. From my research I have found these are very reliable engines. My truck has 83,000 original miles on it and runs great. My question is why it doesn't have the torque to spin the rear wheels? I've turned up the boost and ip but still can't get the rear wheels to break loose. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

I can't help but wonder why you would want to? These trucks aren't exactly race cars.
Mine is a 7.3 N/A and the only time the tires have broke loose is when it was really rainy and a was pulling a 3000lb trailer from a stop sign on a hill while turning. I personally like having traction

I understand what you mean. Because why not right? What do you have for tires? Wider ones offer more traction so if you have oversized tires that might be part of it.

These motors are more workhorse than toy, I'm assuming if you can't spin the tires you must have an automatic transmission? Can't speak for my Ford, but my Chevy never would spin with the auto. I swapped in a manual and sometimes I have to try NOT to spin them. If you REALLY want to spin the tires, you could always try a partial brake stand (hold the brakes while pushing the accelerator). But that's bad for everything, a lot of unnecessary stress.

I've heard the C6 robs power anyway and given the year of your truck, if you have an auto that's probably what it is.

My 91 won't spin the tires, but it's a dually crew cab with no turbo and desperately in need of a tune up.

X2, no reason to break traction. It's hard on stuff and makes the driver look immature and incapable of caring for equipment.

I know these engines aren't race engines but I figure I can break the rear tires loose then I figure it's putting out the torque it should. Plus ya it's fun to do some times.

'00 Chevy Silverado 2500 2 WD 6.0L gasser will let you spin rear wheels when empty on any surface, I mean any not just wet. To the point that truck starts drifting.
Maybe you should get a different truck... I own both.

Na, I love this truck. It actually hall's ***. Just won't spin the tires. I think I can live with that. I own a chevy suburban 5.7 gasser that will burn rubber but couldn't pull what the Ford pulls. Love them both. I got to thinking that my rear brakes have a lot to do with the rear wheels not breaking loose.
