That isn't a part number according to my catalog. Where did you get that number? And, can you provide more info on where it goes? Is it for the transfer case itself or the shifter?
This is the pivot bushing in the shift lever, with the large bolt through it into the side of the transmission tailhousing. I got the number off the bushing currently installed in the shifter. Looks like it's still available from a quick search... $50 on Amazon, $85 from Tasca... It's the rubber in a steel sleeve style, the nylon bushing is for a NP205 shifter for 79 and earlier trucks.
Not sure mine is $50 bad, the inner sleeve is stuck on the bolt as typical and the rubber is pushed in about 1/4 inch. I may pick one up as I'd prefer to use the NP208 shifter when I swap my 1356 in and I think it'll work that way.

Hope it works. I think I have the 1356 in my 89, and it has the shifter that you have to pull to your leg before you can move the lever into certain spots. The bolt that the shifter rocks on when you pull it to your leg froze up on mine. After that, it kept popping out of low range when I would use it. I finally figured out the bolt it rocks on was froze up and not letting it go into the gate that locks in it place.
Since the 208 shifter doesn't have the gates in the shifter, it may keep popping out of gear like it did on me.
Odd, there are detents in the shift lever on the transfer case itself so it shouldn't pop out unless the shift linkage or shift lever are hitting anything. If it wasn't fully going into the detent that could explain it.

Don't know. I took the transfer case shifter completely out of the truck and loosened up the bolt/pin that it rocks on, and the problem when away. I hadn't noticed that I was not having to pull the shifter to the side to get it in the correct gear until it started giving me problems.
OK, the bushing itself is serviceable. I blasted the rust off the bolt and the inner sleeve of the bushing and discovered there are two plastic bushings that go between the bolt and the bushing. The outer bushing with lip is pretty rough, it would be nice to replace these to tighten it up. Any idea on PN or availability?
