Yeah, I was gonna remote into your box to try and see what's up, I suspect it has a virus or malware - you told me something about Adobe not allowing you to post pictures here unless you pay some money, that's not right.

Tell Sylvia for me: Yeah, your needs are challenging.

For the others reading...It's a Win 8(.1?) box with a Win7 skin, and I set it up a few years ago in such a way to allow him to Print to JPG from some PDF reader (for many of his parts catalogs) and save the resulting picture as a file, and somehow integrate those images into his posts here on FTE, all semi-automatically so long as you follow the exact procedure exactly the same way each time....

And now something wants money... I'd have to go look at it and see the exact message and refresh my memory on how that box is set up.

But I'd first need to walk him through, over the phone:

1) creating an invitation in the Remote Assistance thing, then saving it as a file on the disk
2) attaching that file to an outgoing e-mail message to me
3) asking google for his IP address, telling that to me

I can easily spend two hours on the phone walking my father through something like that, and I don't think things would be any different in this particular case.

Then I'd fire up my Win10 virtual image and remote into it and take it over, see what I could find...

But SWMBO can do a lot of that herself, and the whole operation might be completed faster than setting me up to RDP into that thing.

 

For others, SWMBO = She Who Must Be Obeyed = Sylvia. And by definition given her relationship with Bill, she has great patience.
