Apparently it has been a long time since I have visited this web site. I have looking at some of the other websites and they seem like they have tumble weeds blowing across them. This one seems to have way more traffic on the diesel side. I hope I have found a new home. Now onto my first question. I now have a 2011 6.7 w/ 134k miles on it. I ran across a video of an upper intake cleaning. Is this something that needs to be considered a maintenance item I need to take care of? Sorry so long and thanks for any answers.
Did a little research. And the only video I came across was for a 6.0 ford. I did find several for the 6.7 Cummings. I haven't seen a thread for this problem yet.
Maybe someone else can help with this question.

Welcome! Great bunch of guys here most more than willing to take time to answer questions. I cannot personally answer the need you are asking about, but others will.
I do not have any CELs showing. I just ran across this video. I may be running my mouth but, it looks to me that he has more of a turbo problem than anything else. I also may be making a mountain out of a mole hill.
In the video the owner has already deleted the EGR cooler.
He took off the intake and the parts to the turbo and cleaned them. Why I don't know.
EGR cooler sits onto of the passenger side valve cover and you can see his is missing.
I don't see the reason he was doing this except to paint some parts. While it is out might as well clean it but absent some problems it just seems like work for nothing.
I just bought a 2011 F450, been doing a lot of reading. Seperating fact from fiction is always fun. the 2011s have an issue with the exhaust valves or glow plugs. the turbo bearings can also be a problem. It does look like the overall % of trucks with problems is small, but at the miles start adding up on the 11s and 12 we might see more.
I just "lightened" my exhaust and manipulated 1s and 0s. I hope this helps some of the issues
Thanks senix. Like I said, I am totally new to this turbo diesel stuff and need all the help I can get. I enjoy the truck. Even completely bone stock it is a stump puller. The truck came with a CAI and I don't really see the need for it. I found a stock air box a couple of hours away from here for 10 bucks. Do you think it is worth the drive to get it? Sorry for all of the questions. My personal opinion is that a CAI is not worth the money but, since it came on the truck (free) will it hurt any thing to just leave it?
