Jaguar E-Type Lightweight (Continuation Model) Review - Motor Trend
Ford is now building the second version of the GT. A mint 2005 is like $500,000 or more. The new GT (Lemans winner btw) is by invitation-only AND starts at like $450,000. Crazy! But bad azz! I really like the flying buttress (the arch between the rear fenders to the roof) aerodynamic treatment.
That brings up an idea... one of you guys should re-skin a newer F150 with a Dentside body.push and pull the body dimensions but make it look right. Or do a body swap to a newer chassis and get all the new stuff to interface with the vintage dash n stuff. That would be awesome. A few shops out there have reskinned a new Mustang with 67-70 Mustang steel.
So is any one ambitious enough to do it??

I think the GT40 is cool as is the Shelby Cobra. I was pondering a Factory Five build until I actually sat in one. The seating position is very awkward because the pedals are offset to the left due to the tight footbox created by the short wheelbase and the trans tunnel. Meaning, you sit askew instead of being square to the wheel. Very bad ergonomics... Now, my 360 Spider is pure comfort -like a flesh tuxedo.
Ever drive an old MGB? The floor pan raised crossmember right behind your foot's heels... another bad ergo design.
Yeah man, I'm sure Ford taught Jaguar a thing or two when they owned them from 1990 to 2008. If you pay attention, Ford's styling cues are still reflected on their models as well as with Aston-Martin... notice their big mouth grills... Ford sold them off to Tata Motors (India).. no, not those kinds of tatas.
Thanks for the video Jeff. Yeah, someone should do a re-skin!!! Whip out that measuring tape!!!

Lessons taught. Oh yea. I can tell you the info I know of. But I am sure there was MUCH more. 1st, Jag was so far in the red it took Ford a lot of years to get them back in the black. And this is including using some of Jag/Ford parts, designs, machinery, etc to make Ford products AND Jags. So both shared the expense. The Lincoln Ls and the last body style of Thunderbird. I've heard that Ford designed the 3.9L V8 for the Lincoln LS. And planned on putting it in Jags until the Brits went in to a tizzy. "A Ford in a Jaguar......NEVER"! So Ford masked it by making the same FORD engine 3.8L for the Jags. So the Jags got a more modern and efficient powertrain. I've sold a Lincoln LS part number water pump for a Jag car. Same-Same. The Jag pump even had a Ford engineering number on it. 2nd, Ford got rid of the Lucas electronic nightmare.
And recently someone showed me a time elapsed video of a late model Mustang being re-skinned with 1967 stuff. I'll see if I can come up with it. Great idea doing it with Bump sheetmetal.

Now that is perhaps the coolest build I have seen. Now way in the world I would have ever guessed this was a 2012 at birth.
