Hey everyone I'm stumped. I've got a new to me 97 Ranger that the blower has never worked in and I can't get it going. I've checked the fuse. That's good. Tested the relay. That's good. Did an ohm test on the power switch for the blower. It's open in the "OFF" position and closed in the other positions. I've got continuity through the speed selector switch. New resistor and pigtail because the other one was nasty looking. What seems odd to me is that I've only got power to the blower motor relay at one terminal with the switch on (number 30 I believe). In addition, when I test the plug for the motor itself with my test light, one of the wires (org/blk I think) has power only when the switch is off. And I ran power straight to the fan from the battery and it spun right up. What am I missing?
That is an awesome link. I'll be saving that one, thanks. It ended up being a completely corroded off wire at the bottom of the blower motor/washer fuse box. It was the big black/green one for the blower motor power feed. I redid the end and stuck it back in. Good to go. I'll probably still just get a new blower motor so that everything is fresh. This one seems a little slow. Thanks for the help. Hopefully this will help someone else.
I would like to be the next guy! I had no idea that little relay box was back there! Same problem here. No blower, No power to motor. I could hear the relay clicking but thought one was labeled wrong in the main box. Pulled the main fuse box off, only to not find a Pink w/ white wire but a Black with green on the blower fuse! ??? Knew I was missing something. Hopped on here did some poking and found your post! Read it, walked out seen the relay box, popped it off the core support and found........ That damn black with the green strip wire full of the green **** of death and fully detached from the relay!
Thank you for posting this!! saved me a lot of head scratching and BS work! Only wish I had got on here first!!
