Thoughts on painting chrome?

So my plan for my truck is to paint it a flat green drab, with black grill, bumper, etc. Problem is, my current bumper is chrome, and I've heard people say it's a terrible sin to paint over it. What do you guys think?

Go for it. I camo'ed my 73 4x4 cuz I didn't want to pay or do a full on paint job and scratch it up with mother nature's fingernails.. tree branches!

Wet-sand with 320 and prime. Shoot a light tack coat to prevent runs, the shoot two medium wet coats. Let fully cure/dry. If ya want, shoot or roll bed liner on the upper surfaces so yer foot is less apt to slip off.

Or just Platicoat the front bumper and then you can always go back to chrome?

Or .... go on Ebay and get some of the "air release" Vinyl Wrap and wrap it flat black .... with texture even.

Wrap etc.... if you scuff it and paint it you irreversibly damage the chrome. If you wrap or similar, if you don't like it you can always change your mind and haven't ruined an increasingly scarce part. Just my opinion.

I mocked up my truck like this to see if I liked it.I bought several different rolls of black tape. I really didn,t like it after I was done, so I just peeled it off. Made a big ball with the waste. Just an idea.

If it's nice chrome, I'd preserve it as good OEM is hard to come by.

I'd like to replace the bumper on my 77, but prefer OEM to LMC ...
