Hi
I have a short somewhere on a 1993 350 club wagon but where?
Background of this problem the # 8 fuse kips on burning and only when I turn the van off. The problem is bean going on for 4 years but maybe ones in a wile but now is more often like a week or so.
The tachometer, radio and dome lights turns off the transmission kicks in to second and kicks in on the down shift into first.
I remove the radio and the dome light inserts now I am left with a ?
Oh one more thing I know call me stupid but I had to try it I inserted a 30 Amp fuse instead of 15 Amp and when I turn off the van the headlight switch start it to smoke and the fuse burnt out.
Any ideas as to where to go next?
thanks
Mike

Reason: to add 1993 350 club wagon
My battery was draining very quick as I do not drive the van very often. No fuse burned so I had to isolate every fused circuit. Long (very long) story short, the dimmer circuit for the dome lights on the headlight switch was shorted to its frame.
Is your #8 fuse the one that protects the inside lights? if you have the switch smoking, I'll check it.
You might want to pull the headlight switch right out and check the connector that sits on top of the switch, the mid '90's era had a big problem with the headlight switches and melting contacts inside the connector.
If you see a problem, they have a replacement switch and connector available.
I checked the headlamp switch and is perfect condition in fact is not on the same fuse. #8
So I did the short finding technick ( removing the ground and checking with a prob) and there was no short so I insert a 15 amp fuse and blew up in an instant?????
What is OSOM remote convenience module
Thanks
I will check this tomorrow because it looks like it blows when i open the driver door but what is strange to me is that it don't happen all the time?
Here is the latest on this the door button wires are melted and short it out I pulled them back to where their was a good insulation but still shorting out so I was thinking my next step is to isolate the door button here I need advise too how to go about doing that.
