THE CREAM PUFF PROJECT......
What type of anti-freeze did you add? If you used conventional green coolant and distilled water (ONLY USE DISTILLED WATER IF ADDING WATER TO FULL STRENGTH COOLANT), did you make sure to add the SCA coolant additive?
These motors require a special additive in the coolant to prevent cavitation. I believe the cavatation happens near the cylinder walls and coolant passages and can eventually lead to irreversible damage. This happens due to the large compression and vibrations these motors produce, which doesn't happen in your standard gasoline engine. You can get the additive at O'reillys or probably Napa and get the test strips for the additive at Napa as well!

Bubba Jones I wasn't aware of a coolant additive. Thank you for the information. We did use full strength conventional green coolant.

I have been doing some research and called the ford dealer parts guy and here is what I have been reading and told....
"New coolant does NOT require VC-8. The Motorcraft coolant, as well as Xerex G05, is ready to go right out of the bottle. VC-8 is only used, when the coolant's nitrile levels are reduced, due to age and use."
I will keep researching this topic. Does anyone else on this forum use the coolant additive and test strips?

I called the Ford dealer and I am swinging by there on my way home from work for the VC-8 and test strips. Thank you VERY much for the information. I appreciate it
+2
Guy at work said to use ELC and I had to correct him.
He even works on these for others and said cups go fast on them too, lol
