Installing new distributor, blocking off EGR

Hey! I have a 1977 F150 351M, C6. Imported it from California, so it has got the EGR-system and airpump. I am putting in a HEI-style distributor (Proform) from Bronco Graveyard. I know many of you will advice me to keep the stock one, but I have made my decision, and the HEI-style is going in. When I do this I am getting a clearance problem with the non-return valve mounted in the intake whre the hose from the airpump is attached. My plan is to buy a new non EGR-intake and a 4-barrel carburetor some time. But it is expansive to buy it all at once. It has to wait some time. But will it be ok to block of the plumbing from the air pump at the intake? If I do so, then I also have to remove the EGR-valve and block that one off too? And of course block off the vacuumlines attached to it. This is temporarly until I can afford new edelbrock intake and carburetor and a new straight up timing set. I kind of hope I can use the truck until I can buy these parts. Can I?

Ok. Got the new Proform HEI distributor in. Had to remove the hose from the airpump, and plug the hole in the intake. But it seems to work fine. Rest of the EGR-system is still there, and will not be removed until I have bought myself a new Edelbrock or Weiand intake and a new carburetor.

Glad that worked for you with the rest of the plumbing in place. Have you noticed a difference since switching distributors?

Nahh...., I have only driven it a couple of miles jet, but it shouldn`t be any noticable differance in power. But my old Duraspark-distributor was not working properly. The vacuumcanister was leaking. And as said earlier I did it most to get rid of some old wiring. Looks clean though.

Here is the Proform distributor from Jeff`s Bronco Graveyard. 169 dollars. As you can see at the left of thr distributor, I have some clearance issues where the hose from the smog pipe used to enter the intake. Have no blocked it with a brass cap. I didn`t have the right tool right now to remove the piece of pipe. Will do that when I go to work after the weekend. Then Iwill have some better space to time it properly. I will replace my intake with a non-egr Edelbrock Performer sometime.

And here is the wiring I got rid of.

And here is the relay. Wired it from battery through 10 amp fuse. Used the red/green wire, which used to go to the coil, as trigger for the relay. This one has only 9,5V, but is enough to engage the relay.
