dull knives suck soo much i was cutting some bark off a pice of wood to start a fire wile camping and the knife sliped and went throu my thumb (in one side and out the other) .....good thing pain dosent affect me (much)
The most dangerous knife is always the dullest. Ever notice how many people cut themselves quicker with a dull knife as compared to a sharp one. Kinda like the unloaded gun, huh?
I put a 1 inch chisel through the meaty part of my thumb once. Thank God it was a new one and was sharp. Made a very clean cut. Fileted it open beautifully.
A dull knife requires more force and maybe a swing action. Both lead to accidents. A sharp knife requires little force and a slip is less likely. A sharp knife also makes a nice clean cut which is easy to stich up or bandaid.
Go for a good sharp knife any day. I love slicing tomatos with just the weight of the knife pushing down.
My dad was cutting a piece of the plastic stuff that goes around your bathroom bath or shower, well anyways, he was cutting it with a carpenters knife (was new so pretty sharp) and he, just moments before, said to himself "my finger shouldnt be there" and right then he sliced part of his finger off. He later called cause we were doing some remodeling and he just happened to say "oh, if you go in the bathroom you will see some blood, don't worry bout that, im ok."
