Special Thermostats?
What's the deal with the thermostats on these engines? I read things that say only a few are the proper kind.
I'm running a plain ol stant 195.

This thread also talks about Stant 13469 which is almost identical to Motorcraft RT139. It has some good pictures showing the bottom bypass.

Guys - This thread reminded of the thermostat/bypass setup on the 335 series engines, and I've realized that we have documentation here, there, and everywhere about it. In fact, I have a blurb about it on the thread where I detailed building the 400 for Dad's truck, and included some pics and dimensions. However, we don't have one place that we can point to which has a list of thermostats that work, the various drawings and pictures to explain why, etc.
So, in order to have one place that captures all the info we know I've created a page on my web site: 351M/400 Thermostats - ???Gary's Garagemahal. Please take a look and let me know what changes need to be made.
