1979 F-150 "Raptor" Modified Truck

We figured we would share this in the forum as I haven't seen too many 1979 Ford Trucks modified to resemble a newer Raptor. This truck recently sold on Ebay for $25,000 despite most of the modifications being aesthetic as the truck is not a 4x4 and has a rebuilt 460.

More information and pics on the homepage article.

What are your thoughts? Cool unique project or waste of a classic?

Not a "dentside" anymore! It is like an angel that's been stripped of its wings.

I still think its pretty darn neat though.

It used to be a regular cab longbed, he put a supercab cab on it and shortened the longbed.

It has very good visual proportions. I like it... but in the end it should be 4WD.

It's not an agile raptor.... more like a lumbering sauropod.

It should be a 4WD at minimum. I don't know if I like it yet or not. I'd have to spend sometime really checking it out. I do like the fact they put the effort in it.

Interesting how they did away with the stock hood design too. No whining about a poorly fit hood at least! Makes the front of the truck look much like a Dodge.

Interesting and different...So it has 2 qualities I like. And lots of modification work went into that rig.

Can we assume that is a tilt front end or maybe one-piece fiberglass or steel?

HIO, it looks to me as if the hood now follows the contour as outlined in black, like a more modern pickup hood.

Was the "filled in" truck an option, or do you have to modify it to get that look?
ive seen it a few times now, I thought it might be a custom order

Without the dent it looks like a dodge from the same era, just ugly.

I dig it in 4wd.

$25k is good money for it IMO.

The builder is an impressive body man it seams. (<-pun intended)

I have mixed feelings about it. I don't hate it, but I'm just not sure what I'm looking at either. Somebody did do some fantastic fabrication work (at least in pictures).

Unk Bob
