Is This 1979 Ford F-150 ‘Raptor’ Refreshing or Revolting?
The concept of giving a classic vehicle the visual appearance of a newer one is nothing new. The opposite is quite popular as well, with a lot of newer vehicles receiving retro styling touches that pay homage to the past. But while we’ve seen a lot of cars and trucks that strive to appear newer or older than they actually are, this is the first time we’ve ever laid eyes on an old Ford truck made to look like a Raptor from Ebay.
It’s an interesting concept, for sure, thought not sure if refreshing or revolting? The paint job is designed to mimic the Raptor’s – with a blue similar to the SVT color and semi-gloss black painted on graphics and accents. 35″ General Grabber tires give it a 4×4 stance, despite being a two wheel drive, and Rancho shocks replace the stockers for better handling.
Power comes from a 460 block that has been rebuilt but is mostly stock, and it’s backed up by a C6 automatic transmission. The interior has received new seats and carpeting, a Grant GT steering wheel, and new seals and weatherstripping. Overall it’s a very clean truck, but was it a good idea?
That my friends is a matter of personal opinion. While some people are sure to love the look, others are just as sure to hate it. One things for sure – it’s probably the only 1979 Raptor F-150 out there. So what do you think about it, refreshing or revolting?
