I would go with an MSD 6a ignition, 133 bucks from summit racing. Then i might get an electric fan from summit for 80 bucks or so.

I forgot to add that they are good mods for an engine w/o a mass air conversion because they don't effect airflow.

K&N open element filter charger which replaces your air box, about $80, you could wait a little while save the extra hundred and spring for a set of headers, $295 or watch ebay, the MSD is a good suggestion. after that you are getting into the performance upgrades, and since you are past the muffler and pipes. A chip can run anywhere between $195-500 and my experience with chip was that i acheived the same performance by bumping up my ignition timing, of course you have to run premium to keep detonation down but it was worth the responsiveness and alot cheaper. Performance pullys could be installed, but becareful with these they can jepordise the engines ability to cool itself and run the appliances at low speeds. Also i am not sure if this works with a 302 but i installed a 1970 429 timing chain on my 460 to bring my cam timing up, also adds some power. 69.95 for a true roller 429 timing chain (dont know 302 price)

Hope these ideas help a little.

If you have a lot of miles on your rig (like 85-100K) A tune up consisting of plugs, cap, rotor, and wires might be the best choice. A MSD box will do no good if your other ignition components are wore out.....
