All original 40,000miles, 360bb, short bed, 2wd, Power steering, power brakes, factory AC.
I bought this truck last summer in Virginia. In the glove box were all the receipts for everything done on the truck, including the inspections each year with mileage. The original owner only put 700-800 miles a year on it.
The only things I have done, is rebuild the carb, new ignition tune up, I dynamated the interior and new abs headliner.
The A/C works well, just has a slow leak, so it only lasts a few months on a charge, before it needs to be filled up again.
I am having one problem with the carb. When I accelerate from idle (especially when cold), it wants to stall. I have to feather the throttle or punch it to get it past this stumble. Once it is moving, there is no hesitation in the throttle. Any suggestions???
First off, you made a great score, that truck is gorgeous!
But that sounds like you may need to adjust the choke a little, or let that engine have a little more time to warm up before you take off.
Nice bike too
X2 on what they said about checking the carb.
Also check your vacuum lines for leaks, you can spray Wd-40 around the connections and wait, if your engine speeds up, you have a leak
If your carburetor has multiple positions on the accelerator pump, go to the position that will give more fuel when the throttle is opened. If the carb has never been rebuilt, it is probably due for a rebuild with components that are tolerant to ethanol fuels.
Beautiful truck, BTW
I agree with the carburetor related diagnosis, and that includes checking the choke and vacuum leaks. Great score and thanks for sharing. I'll just never be able to comprehend how a person can purchase such an awesome vehicle especially new and just leave it sit. I always want to drive my vehicles. Even when I can't I still want to drive them. I guess I just have a sickness.
