1994.5-1997 F250-F350. The early Superduty's also had this motor, so it may be easier to find one in better shape.

My 1st Super Duty was a 2005 F-250 XLT RWD Super Cab Short Bed with the 6.0..... I knew of the issues that plague these motors so I was very weary....After driving it and looking and listening for potential problems, I took the plunge.....

I scored it for $10K with 60K miles on it..... the only owner was an 80 year old gentleman who towed a 10K Lb. 5th wheel all over the US and Canada, even Alaska.... BTW, the 30ft Cardinal 5th wheel came with the truck at that price too.... I couldn't pass it up.

Long story short, I did some performance mods and it failed me in the middle of a 2800 mile road trip towing my current 5th wheel.... The oil cooler got clogged first and the oil temps started rising, with up to a 50 degree difference between oil and coolant temps....on the verge of overheating and shut down the whole time....then the heads lifted, spewing coolant out of the reservoir.... It didn't leave me stranded and limped along all those miles to get us home safely.

I had to re-evaluate my needs.... I needed a reliable truck with a plow and towing package that would be driven once a week, when not plowing or taking road trips with the 5th wheel all summer....not much else mattered if I was going to look in the $25K range....

I found my 2012 F-350 6.2 XL 4x4 SCLB with 20K miles, 8' Fisher HD plow and towing package....roll up windows, vinyl floors, and not even a CD player or Aux input....I found it on Cars.com at a dealer and the final price was $25K....

It can be done!! Keep shopping.... if you don't need a plow, you can certainly find a 2011+ 6.2 in that price range with low miles. Try cars.com.....you can really filter your search so only what you are looking for comes up. Good luck!!
