help! speedometer and rear window

My 83 is acting up again. First the rear window stoped working. And now the speedometer wont work. When i got my bronco everything worked great. I dont know what to do.

For the window, could it be the motor? One of the switches? A fues? ....................?

For the speedometer, it stoped one day after i went offroad. Theres this little spot my friends and I found. Its a place where they dig up dirt to sell it so the place is actually prety big and alwasy diferent. Im not quite sure whether it stoped at that place or when i started hitting puttles of water to wash the under.

If anyone has any ideas on how to help me let me know.

thanks

help! speedometer and rear window

If the tailgate key activates the rear window, then the front switch has gone bad. Remove it either clean the contacts with rubbing alcohol or buy an new switch. Common problem. Haynes has a section on removing the switches.

If you can get the tailgate open you can just check the wires that lead from the tailgate to the body on the left side. Sometimes they get so worn they break. If your window is stuck in the up position, you'll have to find out how to get it down without the motor to check.

help! speedometer and rear window

the way i learned that my rear window was ok is i removed the rear access panel, located the power wires for the motor, then i took a battery charger and jumped it. mine worked so we bypassed all the saftey switch(es). as for the dead speedo, you got me there.

I forgot to address the speedo question...I've had 2 Broncos and I've had to replace the speedo cable in both. They both started to make a rattle noise behind the cluster then just broke off after a while. Take off the cluster and check it out. It's real easy to replace if it turns out that's what you have to do. Good Luck!
