Yesterday I stoped at a huge junkyard that I pass every two weeks on my way to work. This place had about twentyfive rows of Fords with about fifty cars/trucks a row. One full size Bronco! It was stripped bare. Is this the normal? About the only thing I saw that I could use was a steering box on a two wheel drive explorer. I was told it was the same and they dont have much ware because of the light weight. I'm going to get it on my next trip. I wanted to get window switches and power door lock actuators. The lone Bronco was roll up. I didnt even know they made them. I checked all the F150's, no luck.
Par for the course. Even down at the ford bronco junkyard there are NO tailgates to
be seen anywhere and if there is they are worse then mine I gave up looking for the
gate about 6 years ago!! HEy I might be wrong but aren't you from Florida?
Yea, sort of. I'm in the pan handle. (they cal this area southern Allbama) The junkyard was in Mississippy. I got a Tailgate from JC whittney for my other Bronco. In fact, I got two. I think they rust quicker than the stock ones. (but I was living in Canada at the time.) I may get another one because mines damaged where the tire mount was. It shouldnt rust here.
Cold galvanizing paint on the inside will help the gate last!! In Umatilla there is a
bronco junkyard they don't have a website but the yellow pages should have their
number if you happen to make it down that way. The east coast is definately worse
for salt in the air from the constant waves my truck was brand new from a Jax dealer
and lived it's whole life on beachside and pulling a boat with me and the po, So it has
more than it's fair share of rust and thats the year they started with better rust prevention!!
I would be carefull of that junkyard. my brothers (2) both live close by. When I was visiting years ago, my old Bronco blew out the driveshaft. I called that place and they said they had several for my truck. We drove there and they kept pulling out driveshafts and saying this ones for your truck. I had the old one right there. When I would compare, they were differnt. Finnally I said "why did you tell me on the phone you had several when you dont have any idea." The answer "well if you wernt so picky" I'm telling you he was serious. Me and my buddy had to laugh. Wanting the driveshaft to fit is being picky.
