I used FreightQuote.com and figured shipping cost online for $300 or so.
They replied with a $250 and then since I was a first time shipper with them it was $200. (used engine boxed on pallet)
The guy in Tenn. didn't have a business and lived out in the sticks but gave me a name of a business name he used to use.
I boxed it up with a chain out the top for lifting, I think he put an engine hoist in the back of his truck to lift it out of the freight truck.
Everything went smooth on his end and they didn't give him any problems.
Shipper ended up being AAA Cooper.

I shipped a complete 226 6cyl in a 4 X 4 wooden box built on pallet from Central PA to the Chicago area for $150 using fastenall. The guy that bought it set it all up. All i had to do was drop it at the nearest fastenall on Friday, they forked it inside the warehouse and he had it the next Wednesday. He said it arrived perfectly. Not as bad one would think.
I am having a rear fender for an F2 shipped right now from Arizona to Maine. It started it's trip today.
Cost was $175. The pallet was 80 x 28 x 18.
they now require everything big to be on a pallet or in a crate. I think that $175 is their minimum charge for coast-to-coast deliveries. The pallet is pretty light as you can imagine.
But I like their service...and I really need a rear fender because my original one is beyond repair and nobody reproduces them.
I thought I read on here that Fastenall would not take anything with fluid in it like an engine.
Update on the $200 engine ship, the truck driver and customer didn't like the pickup/engine hoist unloading so they went down to the local Walmart and they unloaded it for them.

They require the oil and water to be drained as well as the carb float and fuel lines. I took the carb off anyways and put it in a box inside the crate.
