1952 4spd spur to T87D 3 spd swap
I've read a lot on the above swap and just looking for verification before I attempt to do this. I scored Heavy Duty 3 spd locally this week for very cheap($150) and it appears to be in extremely good condition. Not even a chip on any tooth, synchros look good. I have a 1952 F1 with 4spd spur and 215. I want to swap the 4spd center floor shift with the T87D center floor shift and from my parts manual and from what I've read my driveshaft is the correct length and this should be a straight swap. Is this correct? ....and for down the road if I wanted to use the T87D for another truck I could swap the HD with a LD 3spd but would need a different driveshaft? Anybody that's done this and can add any gotcha's I'd appreciate it. Thanks! Bill
PS. One more thing. This tranny did not have the shift lever with it. I can look it up but if someone already knows...Can I just use the shift lever from my current 4 spd spur?

No sure
I was told it came from a 50 F1 so if that is true it was not the 215. I doubt they made a different 4spd for the 215 vs 239 so I would think that it would bolt up but I just got it home so i'll crawl around and see what's up. I have an extra shifter arm from a 3spd LD and my parts book doesn't show them as being different but who knows.

Well i did some inspecting of the Heavy Duty 3 speed and it appears to be a direct swap of the 4 speed spur in my 52. Now the issue is that it didn't come with the shift arm and they are not the same as the Light Duty 3 speed so looks like i need to find one of them. If anyone has a floor shifter for a Heavy Duty 3 speed and would sell it let me know.
