So finishing up my brake system is now in good shape. Dropped a Brake Master Cylinder nut. Turned on my flashlight to find it, oh what's that? Oh a crack in the manifold . More things to fix! So any advice on fixing a cracked manifold . 78.F-150 351m Ranger Lariat. Thanks again in advance.
Depending on where it is, most places won't even touch the cast stuff anymore. The welding rods are too expensive and the job usually costs more than the part. Your best bet would be to junk one for $15 and just swap it. Turkey pan gasket at another $10 and your back in high spirits with about an hour of work.
You could also always use it as an excuse to .... Upgrade.
Not sure on the exact metal. Steel of sorts based on the rust. Didn't want to upgrade just yet though. Have a schedule in mind of when to do what and new intake with new cam and carb was on the list for early summer. Just wanted safe and drivable for winter and get some interior work done dying the cold months.
Yes I did find the nut and finish the brake job. Still have a bit to go now with this and my gas tank sender seal leaks. Is there a mentalk health hotline for working on these trucks?
It may be possible to use an epoxy such as JB Weld to seal the crack w/o twisting a wrench. This would buy you some time. You didn't say how this engine is running so I assume it's OK for you.
