I was wondering if you can reuse carb cleaner. I bought a gallon of it about 3 years ago and it was the kind that has the parts basket in it so you put the parts in the basket and let them soak in the gallon can. Anyway I used it on an atv carb 3 years ago and now I need to clean the carb again, can I reuse this stuff or should I just use the spray can style carb cleaner.
NO THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE IN IT, WE USE IT TO CLEAN CURED EPOXY AND EURETHANE COATINGS FROM TOOLS AND MIXERS AND SUCH. MEK WILL NOT EVEN SOFTEN MAY OF THESE ITEMS. MAYBE METHLENE CHLORIDE, BUT i'M NOT SURE
It's good forever or untill it rusts through the botom of your can......
I always used "Hydro Seal" (solder seal brand). I am thinking it ain't acetone or? but something water soluble. When you rinse it it mixes and turns white, plus it will rust the can out. Most petro stuff won't act like that, but whatever, it sure does clean good. I used to work for a guy and he added water when it got low.
I keep a new and old one. If I am reusing pistons I soak them first in the old (gets off all the oil and crap), then rinse and soak in the new bucket and they come out looking like new ones (and I don't foul the clean bucket). There is you tip of the day!
well I made it to auto parts store today and checked out carb cleaner It is mythalene chloride and petrolem distiliant ( mineral spirits) can't spell any of these damn things
