I'm getting ready to order new window channel and wipers for my 83. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations or know of any to shy away from? I'm looking at LMC and lots of other places. I can find cheap and expensive. I'm most interested in quality. Perhaps they are all the same?
Another poster in that thread said he had better luck with Dennis Carpenter, although he was talking about a rear window seal, not the stuff for the side windows. I don't know how the LMC and Dennis Carpenter side window pieces compare.
Carpenter's weather strips are made in the USA, LMC's are made in China, but sometimes when your order from LMC, you get Carpenter's weather strips.
Interesting. In that case, I'd suggest ordering from Dennis Carpenter to be sure. I must have lucked out when I ordered mine from LMC.
Curiously, I ordered a hood release cable from Dennis Carpenter a while back. Nice quality repro, other than the label on the handle was upside down. Unfortunately, there was no way to remove the handle and reinstall it correctly.

I bought and installed channels and window weather-strips from Rockauto. The brand was Fairchild, and they were a decent product. Took a bit of effort to get them to fit into the door; when they were freshly installed they were tight, now the windows move freely and keep out the elements.

Can't say for sure, but am pretty sure it was a repro. It had some minor differences from the old one, besides the upside down text. It was a back burner project, and several months went by before I took it from the package. By then it was too late to return. With my CDO nature, I knew the upside text would drive me crazy, so I made do by lubing the old one.
I've just spent the last hour trying to find the DC version. I must have decided I'd never use it and tossed it out, which is VERY rare for me.
I didn't replace mine "per say" with a part designed for the purpose. I cleaned the channel out then lined it with tire inner tube trimmed to fit and glued it in, then using 3M adhesive backed velcro (the soft side), i lined the inner tube. It's held up pretty decent for over a year now. But, mine is a workhorse, not a restoration.

Mine was supposed to be a work horse and then I found this place and these guys started helping me get seperated from my money. LOL
It will be my work truck and already is but it may turn out nicer than I had originally planned. The window air leaks are driving me nuts.
I ordered new from Dennis carpenter this morning.
