hey there everyone I recently bought a 1999 f250 super duty with a v10 and 4x4 this is my first truck so I don't know too much about them but The truck needs a new transmission so I went out and got a 4r100 from a 2001 f250 v10 4x4 the issue that I'm confused about is when I got the two transmissions side by side I realized the new transmission that I got for the truck has the two connections on the top of it for the output speed sensor and the turbine speed sensor but my original transmission does not have these connections. I'm not sure if I can still use this new transmission I got or will it not work? Thanks in advance
The good news is that those two connections on top can safely be ignored. Just leave the sensors in place to plug the holes. The bad news is that you are going to have to swap the solenoid bodies (located in the pan) and either swap the pump or modify the pump you have.
Jeg's has instructions on how to do this. CLICK HERE, then go towards the bottom of the page and click on INSTRUCTIONS. Download the file. You don't have to buy the kit, but it might be easier to do that.
If I was to swap the pumps do you mean just take the one out of the old transmission and put it in the new or buy a different pump? I've never opened a Trans before besides changing the filter and oil to be honest lol
Don't use that pump. It might have been the cause of the failure.
hey mark I got a question about the pumps could it be possible that they are the same because I was looking at them both and they are both labeled as RF-F81P-7A105-AA
is there a way I can tell if they are the same without pulling them? I called my local shop and they was 200$ just to look at them lol
Those are casting numbers. That doesn't mean they are the same. Use the instructions I linked in post #3 and see if the orifice is 0.250" or about 0.030".
