Does the $725 kit include the camera and sensors or is it simply the prep to the truck to allow for this and they need to be purchased separately? If they are included, where were they in the truck when delivered? When I took mine out for a test drive the other day (picking up on Saturday), I saw the bag for the 5th wheel components but not the camera, wire, harness or sensors.
Had to get mine from parts. Also, the service department WILL have to change the plug on the back of the truck. This is NOT done from factory. Takes 15 min. You lose the 4 pin plug but they give you an adapter from the 7-way to go back to the 4-pin. The trailer cam plugs in where the 4 pin use to be.
The plug swap is easy to do your self, just snap out and snap in, connect wires and done. The cable for the 12 pin camera connector is attached the harness above the spare tire.
Did those of you that also got this option have your dealership install the camera and tire pressure sensors? My assumption has been that this is covered in the cost of the option, but I guess I didn't clarify this with my salesman. I haven't done anything yet as I have not yet picked up my new trailer.
Dealer installed the truck plug but gave me the box with everything for my trailer including the TPMS. Installation on your trailer is not part of the 700+ dollar option. Dealer installed option seems is only the plug on the back of the truck which takes only a few minutes.
I bought a truck off the lot. Got lucky with the right mix of options. My truck did come with this, but I probably wouldn't have ordered it. Not really a fan of some camera wire running down the back of my travel trailer. Dealer had to hunt it down, said they had to order it. When I went to pick it up, shipping label showed it had been delivered to Parts a month before they got the truck. Dealer was willing to install, but I told them I would let them know later--just took the box with me. I think I'm probably just going to sell it and get some $$ back.
interestingly enough, I had to ask for this, no one knew anything about it. Tried to tell me that the $725 was just some pe-wiring. The shipping label had the VIN on it.
I ordered this package because I wanted the 5 cameras. I assumed the sensors and trailer camera were extra. What happens if you don't use the tpms & trailer camera?
I wanted both rear cameras but when I priced truck online with the high mount camera the Ford website wanted to remove the tailgate camera. I ordered this option to get all cameras. I thought the front camera would be good for tight parking lots and my garage.

Bob, there are two separate packages that I think you are confusing. First is the tow tech package which gives you all the truck cameras. This sounds like what you ordered. Then there is the trailer mounted camera and TPMS which is being discussed in this thread. It includes a camera to mount on the rear of your RV and a set of 4 bolt in TPMS sensors for your trailer wheels.
Thanks Rodney, you are correct. I misunderstood.
Thanks for clarifying. On the Ford Canada website it's called the Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System (what I ordered). When I saw $725.00 U.S. price I thought it was the same as what I ordered.
I'm still learning.
Thanks for this thread. I was really upset that the 17 SD I finally settled on didn't have the TPMS $725 option as dealer said he didn't have it. The trucks that have it say 'Dealer Installed' so I was worried I'd pay a higher price for it later. Great to know I can do it myself!
I believe, but am not 100% positive, that the wiring is on the truck if you have the tow tech bundle even if you don't order the camera/tpms. I'm not sure if it is there without the tow tech bundle but maybe guys who have trucks built both ways can check and post this so we all know for sure?
I had the dealer order me the trailer camera onlyprep (not TPMS) and floor mates both at dealer cost, when I bought my truck the other day. My 5th will come pre-wired for back up camera. I"m hoping I wont have to run any wires just plug in a few cords. May have to do a little rewiring.
