Can someone tell me what the 3rd lever to the right is???
I just bought a 1951 ford f3 and im working on getting her running but i dont for the life of me know what this is!!! It appears to go straight into the transmission. I have a few guesses but can someone clarify?
Hi, and welcome to FTE.
I think it might be the engagement lever to the Power Take Off that is likely bolted to the side of the transmission. The lever location is about right for that.
Tom
It is the PTO lever. Was your truck a dump truck? Did it have a hoist? There should be another lever to raise and lower the bed. Most dump trucks have another lever next to the PTO lever. Is there are **** on the dash to raise and lower the bed?
Wow! You all are super helpful! I had to look up what a PTO is , there are no other levers in cab but there are a few ***** on the dash. My understanding is that the truck spent it whole life as a fleet truck on an airport. Thanks for all the input!
Is a PTO hard to remove?
I'm sure if the truck was on ebay I found it on a different listing, is this the same one ?
Im not sure if it was posted on ebay i found it on another listing is it the same one?
Pto doesn't necessarily run a hoist , could be winches , fuel , oil pump or water etc.
Yes, you are right. The first thing you think of with a PTO is a hoist. It would be interesting to see what the PTO was used for on this airport truck.
