New weatherstrips not fitting

Hi, so my original weatherstrips of my 73 f100 are already worn and flat, i found replacements on ebay for 40 dlls. Bought them and they fit goot, but i notice the material is thicker and more rigid than the original so i cant close the door i have to seriously force it to get it closed and it doesnt close all the way. Do you know how lo look for the replacements the oriinal ones are thinner and softer i can press them with my fingers.

New seals need to achieve 'crush' to conform to the mating surfaces. The trick is to apply pressure over time to achieve this. For door seals, I will tie both doors to each other and then use a 1x1 to twist the rope like a tourniquet.... over a few days of slowly tightening, the doors should be able to latch....even better and easier in a warm climate.

Mine used to hold the door open at least 15 degrees. I just shut them and let them sit a while. The one side was a bit tough to close for a few months but broke in nicely. I used a different brand for the other side and it was good to go from the beginning.

Why not adjust your locking posts out to where a good hard push on the door latches it? Probably will not stand out much, if at all, and over a little time the seals will crush in to their permanent size and you can just adjust the posts in a bit to compensate.

I left that out of my post accidentally. I did adjust them out a little. Still a bit tough to shut the door for a while, but they broke in and I readjusted the strikers.
