I think I have a crack on my oil cooler end mounts that's causing my coolant and oil to mix together and show up in the degas and it just now started showing in my oil pan as well. Are the 1999-2003 7.3 oil cooler mounts (specifically the mount that has the fuel filter attatched) compatible with my 1996? I can't find the end caps or mounts, whichever you want to call them, anywhere and need to get this problem fixed as soon as possible.
Ok, thank you. And yeah I know. I replaced the o-rings and gaskets in the spring and just recently noticed a small amount of oil in my coolant and I flushed my coolant but the amount slowly began to increase and now it's showing up in my oil. And I also have oil running down my fuel filter so I'm guessing there's a crack. That's what I'm hoping anyhow
You can get the new housing mounts from Riff Raff, but they are pricey. If it were me, I'd pull it apart and clean it extremely well, then look for cracks. These don't normally crack, so I'd be suspect of that. What O-Rings did you use?
The o rings I bought off eBay for half price but they were labeled oem ford rings. I siliconed them up and practiced putting the cooler together 5 times before actually mounting it.
Silicone or silicone oring lube? Silicone oring lube is all I use. Withstands head to 400f. You should be able to push the ends together by hand if lubed right. I get ford oring kits from eBay.
Yup molykote 111 and boss 820 are what I use. I always brass wire wire wheel the inside of the headers carefully even if it leave swirl marks gotta get the rough oxidation out. I lube the beveled edges in the headeand where the orings sit on the tube bundle too. I can just push against the floor and it slides together
