Didn't get to work on it today, but I didn't even think about the injector hold down. Thanks Benny. Maybe my local dealer ship has one. Hope I can start on it in the morning
The one that sort of looks like a broom works well for cleaning the cup face where the coper seats.
Corn cob first then the broom to clean it out. It really cleaned up the mess I made when I under
torqued the bolt once and burned the lower O-ring. Cleaned all that crap right out of there.
Ok it wasn't the injector. Finally got around to doing a compression test. It was "0" I mean nada not even 1 lb. Now I've got some reading and learning to do. Going to take head off first to look before pulling engine. If there is anything I need to be aware/careful of while taking off head let me know. I rebuilt 2 gas engines when I was 20 I'm sure a lot has changed in 46 years. and I'm sure I've forgotten a lot.
One thing to be careful of is your back! Those things are heavy. Have you got a cherry picker there? There is a cool drawing in the tech folder (I think) to make a lifting plate, maybe your welder guy next door could build you one? Getting it off can go ok with chains and bolts but the plate gives you a lot of control going back together. It's easy to booger up that expensive new headgasket if you scrub it around getting the head lined up on install.
P.s I'm off this weekend if you need a hand at some point. You got my number .
Thanks , big thanks. I just sitting here pondering about pulling the cab and doing both. I know I'm nuts. Got to cook ribs to feed the church folks tomorrow. I really need your feedback and help. Let me know what you think is best way. Scratching my head.

Not questioning your knowledge or ability but did you verify the gauge is working correctly? I've had one once not register because the valve core in the hose was stuck open.
Unless there is a whole burnt through the piston or a valve stuck open it would normally give some reading.
Always question my knowledge and ability!!. If I get a chance tomorrow I'll shoot shop air into the fitting to see if that's it. And try it again. Good question!
