Hi there guys , this is my first build thread and I am going to be posting a bunch of pictures but this is my 1992 ford f150 4x4. I bought this pickup a few years ago and has bin my daily driver for 4 years. It is my first full size pick up and as well as my first ford. I honestly love the **** outa this truck, it has surpassed all expectations have made some big trips with her and even towed home an 04 explorer with no problems in some hilly terrain. She has though bin on her last leg the last year or so limping along as the miles have piled up on her. I have decided that now is the time to pull the tired 302 out and replace it with a 94 302 that I have acquired. I have started the teardown on the 91 bricknose that houses the 94'. In the last couple of years I have pulled a bunch of parts from other various fords from reading on the forums as to what would be nice to upgrade such as the charging system , some long or short tube headers as i have an x pipe with 2 hi flow cats and thrush glasspacks. The interior from the 1991 is the captain with jumper seat combo and will be moving over to the 92.
And here is the 91 which I am currently working on tearing down , havent decided if im going to use the flareside box yet or not as my frame is a long box. But would it be awesome to get someone able to fabricate it to be a long box to fit the frame. Just a thought I had. Not sure the amount of work that it would take.
rear of the trans could be a an e40d or a 4r100 hoping that its a e4. As the one in the 92s dentent plate is worn and has no tension in the shift column, engine bay working on intake plenum at the moment
This 91 came with a aluminum rear driveshaft , alot of these pullies and brackets will be getting some powder coating done. Its been a hobby of mine for a cple years now and I cant wait to dress the motor up a bit. Alot of reflective chrome and some ford metalic blue to come.
Charcoal grey pillar covers. mine are busted , i got some light grey ones but it doesnt blend in at all. but for 2 bucks at the local pull yard i thought i try.
Yeah love the oxford white paint color. I am aware that the column wont work what i mean to say is that there is no tension left in the tranny part. I ve replaced everything in the column and have even put in a new column and trans shift cable but still not tension. From what I know is that there is the thing called a de
tent plate on the other side of the neutral safety inside the trans that is spring loaded. This is where u need to have that lbs of tension so ur kids cant just hope in and through it drive.
Just a curious question , When unbolting the access plate for the torque converter which way to i spin the flywheel? clockwise or counter clockwise ? I want to leave the torque converter in the trans because I may be using it in the build.
Alright so it's been some months since I updated the build thread. As of today I have extracted the parts motor and transmission and have started on the old girls motor. I will be getting back to work on it very shortly it was a long winter not to have the old 4x4. Here are some new pictures to.l
