This is the deal,
My girlfriend called me this weekend since I was busy and didnt have time to see her. She had a big suprise for me.....turns out her boss at work sold her his 76 Bronco for 250 bucks. She hasnt had a chance to look at it and I didnt even know about it, but he told her the body is all good, it just has running problems, that and his wife wanted him to get rid of it.
Now I aint complaining about paying 250 bucks for a Bronco, nor the fact that my girlfriend found this sweet deal, but my question is about the steering on that thing. In 76 I know Ford changed over to that "y" steering set up......I think thats what its called. Anyway, is there anyway, and is it easy to change it to the same steering design found on the 66-75 versions? They ran the same steering set up those years as on my 78 Bronco.
Any help would be awesome fellas. Thanks.
~Jason
i think you ought to find a older one with the steering that you need, i would help you out and take that 76 off your hands. i think i can scrap up $250. let me know if i can help, the trailor is hooked to the truck in case you say yes.
HAHA.....Thanks for the concern there sparta....lol.... But I doubt I am getting rid of this lil' beast. BEsides, I havent even had a chance to see it, but I go down Thursday to sign stuff and take the truck back to my girlfriends place.
ok then guess i can tell you that 66-77 will all interchange. there are over the knuckel conversions and set ups with adjustments on both ends vs just one. just pick one you like and can afford and they will all work.
As in the steering,i have a 66 bronco, needs resto(by the way,got ya beat, got it for FREE),lol, anyways,i been usin it for pullin trees around & just gettin to nice swimmin holes n such on our property & areas(i live in the boonies).Ive been researching & planning on doing it all over,351w(has the original 170 inline)power steering, power disk brakes,as for the steering drag link,76-77 was adjustable, which you need for power steering conversion,66-75 drag link is non adjustable,no power, the tie rods & knuckles are all the same.
