So my truck comes in supposedly this Friday (but the window is up to Thanksgiving).
Dealer sent over X-Plan pricing with 1k rebate. The truck I ordered is pretty much fully loaded to the brim long bed diesel platinum, the only option I think i skipped was inflatable seat belts and mud flaps.
He said it didn't really matter whether I paid cash or financed to them, that they wouldn't make any money on the loan, so they were indifferent about that.
I plan to get the extended warranty from Flood / premiumcare 8years.. I figure in 8 years we'll all be driving government mandated electric mopeds.
Should I do the pre-paid maintenance if it's ford's maintenance plan / use at any dealer? I've typically done this in the past out of laziness, I'm pretty reliable with taking it on proper intervals.. and i don't do **** at home myself.. (i suck).
Ask them to go into their holdback to help with the extended warranty would be my only suggestion. When I ordered mine, the dealer offered to split the holdback and but it towards the credit on the trade due to the rules on the x-plan
If it's a true x plan deal, Ford has been cracking down on plan discounts and padding this or that to give the customer a little more. If you go off the plan, just make sure you aren't gaining in one hand (better price) and losing in another (gotta pay higher fees which the plans protect you from). If this was an ordered truck, I personally find it disingenuous to renegotiate after the order, but that's up to you. X plan isn't a bad deal by any means, but there is money on the table (the point of doing business). I would doubt that they make no money on their financing, that wouldn't be competitive in todays market where that is the main source of profit in many deals (like the ones being suggested).
Frantz - Oddly we never really discussed price at order time, I mean.. we ordered it, there was a price, but we didn't do any other paperwork/negotiation.. That was just what MSRP was, neither of us really said much about it. I figured negotiate it when it actually arrives, as it didn't really feel like we had much of a 'deal' on pricing, we just had a deal on, they would get the truck I wanted on the lot. But I was always prepared to pay X Plan pricing if no other deals/things going on.
Holdback should be around $1724 (edmunds).
Destination fee is $1195
Processing fee (document fee) is a dealer generated fee for nothing. They won't usually negotiate it, but Xplan mandatory reduces it to $100.
Then you might have a regional advertising fee.
I had one dealer offer to beat Xplan, and then said I could use Xplan in addition to reduce the Doc Fee.
Xplan should be Invoice - .4% + $275, depending on which Xplan level you have.
