Looking for a machine shop!
Hello im located in Big Rapids (Ferris student), about an hour away from Grand Rapids. I want some machine work done to my motor but have a very limited budget. I am not sure what i need done and what i can get away with because i havent dove into my motor yet.
Looking at
Mill block deck flat (if needed)
Bore Cylinders .030 over (if needed ie.scratch on wall)
Turn crank (if needed)
Balance rotating assembly
Hot tank
Bush small end of connecting rod to accept 351C wrist pin (351C pistons in 400 engine)
if you guys know of a shop somewhat local (within an hour drive) i would appreciate if you dropped the name of the shop and how much you paid. I am currently seeing if my school's shop can do it however they will probably say no due to liability.
My head surface is fine as i bought it remanufactured.
if you guys dont know a shop around me could you give me an average price to pay for each thing done. Thank you!

Call CD's Engine Service, in Hudsonville, about an hour south of you. They do ALL of the work for us here at the shop. As a bonus, both of the owners drive/build/love Fords - they're good guys. You'll find the contact info on their site. CD's Engine Service Inc., engine restoration and service needs Tell 'em Mike from University Motors sent you, it should only cost you about 15-20% more by mentioning my name.

I've heard good things from these guys, not just from Mike. They should be able to take good care of you.
Don't cheap out too much, I've found that you end up doing things twice and usually at least twice as expensive when that happens.
