i had the worm in my pc so i could'nt answer your question about the numbers somewhere... could you pliz give me more information on where i can get the numbers off of the truck.
the subject was," i need to get a computer up grade, chip or programmer."this is for my 1991 f-150 351w 5.8L 2WD automatic.
i have a tru dual free flowing exhaust no cats and i have relocted the intake snorke to the grill and i am putting om a set of shorty headers... so what's the best chip or programmer to get the real real best out of the old truck with such mod's. i would like to be able to change settings for hauling and street perfomance.
See http://www.motorhaven.com/customer/home.php?cat=37 for a full explaination. For your vehicle, there's no such thing as programming for hauling or street performance, we program for more power regardless of the application unless you have modifications that require custom coding.
i am putting in a superchip from the motorhaven store and this is going in my 1991 f150 351w.. you could stroke that 351 like a ***** cat to almost equall to the small bigblock . can't wait for my headers and the chip, i am counting down the days.
I was told that I couldn't put a "chip" in my existing module, I had to either reprogram my module or buy a new one. Maybe someone is yankin` my chain, gonna check out the performance shops tomorrow! Let us know how well your new chip works.
All EEC-IV and EEC-V computers can accept a chip. Your existing computer cannot be reprogrammed (only EEC-V can be with a tuner or by the dealer). It can have a chip added to it that we program.
bro if u'r truck is the same as mine it is on the drivers side panel where u have the hood opening thingy, u have 2 remove the rail on the door step then pop the plastic like screw thingy and remove panel. then you will see the computer. it is a big silver box with a plastic bracket which u may have 2 remove to see the white sticker with "alphabet-number-alphabet then call WEBMASTER 1877-39-6417
Hey forddytube, the #'s I got off it says "D1X" with a small "m" below it, and above it is "0HO4", you say I can call that 1-877 # and they'll tell me if I can get another chip for it????
now that tugboat joe is hooked up...webmaster how difficult is it to put the new chip in and will it come with instructions for dummies like me.
summit screwed up my order again ,got the headers without any hardware, got one gasket and six header bolts only. they tell me that the manila paper gasket is the best for headers, i mean the paper gaskets without the silver thingy in the middle. could this be true.
Hey forddytube, Got hooked up with a "Jet Chip"performance module that you don't have to take the ECM apart, the module installs on the rear of the ECM. The local Ford performance guy said he's had problems with the Super Chip needing to be sent back and re-burnt. No such prob with the Jet Chip. Heard anything about them???
what i have heard is that, only superchips and diablo programme for all RPM ranges and the rest ie;hypertec and so on only programme for wide open throtle which did'nt sound good for me as i am looking to get a complete up grade from stock. if u'r gonna spend money and wana upgrade just do it right and once.
i had ordered the motorvation module till webmaster told me of the differences so i stopped the order through summit.
superchips and diablo bro, call webmaster at the motorhaven #i gave you.
PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST!
