My friend came over asking me to weld his track bar back on his Bronco he just got. It has a Dana 44 straight axle conversion. And the po did all this work. I can't believe how much of a hack job this is just thought u would share
Yes that is the brake hose. Told my friend he can't leave my house till he fixed it Looking up at what is left of the cross member Front view of the cross member
WOW! That's nasty looking.
Some people shouldn't be allowed anywhere near, tools, trucks or torches.
My sympathies to you and the truck's owner. At least it sounds like it's now in better hands.
Good luck.
Wasn't it Ralph Nader who said, "Unsafe at any speed?" I know he was referring to the Corvair when he said that....but if the shoe fits.....!
Best of luck to ya!
To add to this mess. I can't get my friend talked into fixing the cross member or what is supposed too be a cross member. He only wanted the track bar mounts welded back on. I made him fix his brake line. So as I much as I hate to say it he us only adding to the unsafe issue. I just don't get it.
Yeah I have decided to convince him to let me cut that abortion out and build a new cross member. Just use 2x3 tuning and get rid of all the grade 5 hardware while we are at it. Wish me luck I can't stand having a friend of mine owning something like that
Good news. I talked him into fixing it. He asked me to teach him how to weld and fab. I know i will be doing most of the work but I can at least pass some of what I have learned on. And hiosilver no I wasn't there. to coach he is a young guy I have adopted as a little brother. He is a lot like me when I was younger big engine looks cool gotta be a good ride. Well we all know how far that goes. He does great most of the time but then there are times like this. So now he gets to learn how to fix his and someone else's mistakes. I will post pics of the repairs
