oil change timing

oil change timing
So this gen and last gen trucks both have a smart oil change system that allows you to go longer without changes depending on how you drive. I followed the new system on my last 2 trucks as said in the manual and the dealer seemed to be fine with it even tho they would always put a change oil at ... sticker in it after! Now dealing with a new dealer for my 2017, they are telling me to follow the old system or my warranty could be voided as Canada is considered extreme conditions! Can the dealer really void us for following what the book says to do or are they trying to scam me for more oil changes?

They are trying to scam you I would say. Default to your manual though!! If the manual does not say anything under "oil changer interval" specifically about "Canadian extreme weather" then you know for sure your dealer is running crap up your butt.
Also think about this. What does cold weather do? It thickens the oil..but with modern oils....think synthetics....that is not NEARLY the issue that it used to be. Modern oils have great attributes to them at as affordable prices as you have ever seen.
Your dealership is full of it.

My wifes Fusion energi states this 'Change engine oil and replace oil filter when indicated on the vehicle message center or every 24 months or 20,000 miles", whichever comes first
the dealer changes it regardless If I take it in at the 10k interval the manual recommends, then they put the sticker on the says bring it back in in 5k.

ford owner site tells me this for the Truck, If it follows to owners manual, Change engine oil and replace oil filter when indicated on vehicle message center or every 12 months whichever occurs first (Diesel engines)
