Tuning

I have always been a more is better kind of guy. However, since I bought the 6.0 I believe that may not always be true. Like most, I enjoy having power. I read where many people do tuning. I'm curious what the downsides are. I have no ARP headstuds that I can tell. Nothing engine wise has been modified from stock other than secondary oil and coolant bypass filters. I will be replacing glow plugs and harnesses.

I'm curious what the pluses and minuses are, I don't tow anything really large. Perhaps in the future a small trailer but no houses on wheels. Thoughts and ideas appreciated

I just bought a 2004 Ex 6.0 myself. It has 342k miles on it and is almost like new (1 owner, all maintenance receipts) and has an Edge CTS monitor with 4 tunes on it. Stock, economy, tow and extreme. The PO told me that since he has had it it has always been set to economy. I plan to leave it where it is. It has more than enough power for my needs. 342k miles and excellent condition is a good enough for me reason not to change anything. I tried it once on extreme and it was way too much power for me and my needs. Set it back to economy and it will stay there. I really don't need anything going wrong with it and all the extras cost big bucks which I am not ready to do. Mine does have the EGR blocked off and I am okay with that. To me the three things I was concerned about was the EGR delete, oil cooler and silicate free antifreeze. Under normal driving I feel I should be okay with just this.
