i got to drive her around a country block. still not road worthy (don't tell the cops) got her going fast enough to feel some major bump steer so a kingpin rebuild in in order. i made my goal to drive her before winter set in. now my goal is to get her roadworthy and legal before summer hits. would be cool showing up at a few local shows with her.
well as it turns out the transmission was blown and in order to pull the tranny i had to pull the motor (because of the one piece crossmember) which meant i had to pull the front end sheetmetal off. so i did not want to put the old and tired motor back in so i went ahead and did a motor/tranny swap.motor is a 302. tranny ia a c6. i had to cut and modify the crossmember. i can now unbolt it to get the tranny out. i also made a new motormout crossmember. then i got some headers that i had to modify to clear the stock starter and motormounts. what a nightmare that was. so now i've just about got the exhaust hooked back up then i can reinstall the sheetmetal and then do everything else. ha!
