Hey guys...I'm going to be rotating my tires in the next few weeks and I'm sorry but where the manual wants me to jack the front of the truck up scares me. the manual wants me to jack it from the front of the control arms...that scares me...however...there is not enough room between the front differential and the driver side wheel for a jack and a jack stand. there is plenty of room on the passenger side to jack from the axle but the driver side has me confused.
do you all jack from the front of the control arms?
Why does jacking from the front of the control arms scare you? The control arms are attached to a bracket that's welded to the front axle....Very sturdy place to do it.
What I do is jack up drivers side from the bottom of the front differential....then place jack stand under axle between drivers wheel and differential...lower on to jack stand......place jack under passenger side front control arm.....jack up that side....place jack stand under front axle inboard of where jack is.
Why wouldn't you want to jack from the control arm? They're big and beefy, you're not gonna hurt them. You'll find flat spots towards the rear that are intended for this purpose.
I typically use jack stands on the front to hold the axle and vehicle level. Then lift the rear by the hogs head. Then I can do the rotation pretty quick without too much jacking.
