Exclamation 1983 Ford F350 Crew Cab Long Bed

So recently i pulled my transmission to do some work on other things didnt touch the transmission at all then when i put it back it at first it wouldnt drive but now it moves slightly forward and backward but the transmission makes a weird noise any idea what it could be? anything helps thanks.

Automatic 3 speed c6 transmission and it wont even engage reverse now

I hope you didn't take the front pump out by not having the converter all the way on then using the bell housing bolts to close the deal.

Did you have to pull the torque convertor forward a little bit when you bolted it to the flywheel? If not, it may be jambed like the other poster said. If you get under there and take all the bolts/nuts loose on the torque convertor, you should be able to pry it back and then pry it forward, it should not be tight.

That wouldnot keep the trany from going into gear and moving,
If not hooked up it wouldn't shift thru the forward gears from what I remember.

I am with them on converter and front pump.


Hope it turns out ok and nothing was hurt.

How about fluid level? Is it full?(check running, warm and in park)
