Addicted 460
Own an '88 F350 460 Crewcab Flatbed Dually Automatic 4:10 rear which has become addicted to ETHER on just about every startup. Startup procedure is per recommendation with ignition switch rotation to the on position for several seconds with fuel pump operation audible and then subsequent rotation to the start position with no accelerator pedal movement. Engine cranks for only a few seconds and starts 9 out of 10 times however within a few seconds will begin to stumble and shutter as if running out of gas and stall without repeated and rapid accelerator pedal depression. Sometimes I can salvage the start and keep the engine running and most of the time it will stall. On repeated start, the engine will only crank as if out of gas and continued cranking will only run the battery down to nill. Unfortunately, I have found that it will start very easily by removing the throttle body intake hoses and apply ETHER directly into the intake by opening the throttle butterflys. Again the engine will run for a few seconds and then stumble but much less than on initial startup and by finessing the accelerator I can reach some sort of continued operation where it will maintain an idle addequate for movement of the truck. I have replaced the following parts, some for annual maintenance and others for this specific reason, however none have resolved this problem. NEED HELP! Parts List: 1. Cap 2. Rotor 3. Plugs(Bosch 4 Platinums) 4. Distributor Ignition Module 5. Distributor Stator 6. Electric Fuel Pump 7. Fuel Filter(Numerous) 8. Fuel Pressure Regulator 9. Throttle Position Sensor 10. Idle Air Control 11. Air Filter 12. Battery 13. Battery Cables 14. Starter(Now High Torque)
