I have a problem on my 2016 F 150 rear camera picking up the red tail and brake lights at night, so the only thing you see is red black top and grass. You can not distinguish between the grass and blacktop.Anyone have this issue?
It must be something to do with the very wide, almost fisheye view of the camera lens. Might it be possible to put a small ring around the lens to block direct light from all these sources? What you don't want to do is lose the ability to watch the hitch ball, but that's typically out a half foot or so...
I took my F 150 back to the dealer and they did a software update to see if that would help (it did not help). I also call an 800 number to the Ford Customer Relationship Center to check if there were any other complaints about this and to register a complaint about it
Well my 2015 has the same issue/ it seems more pronounced on the trucks than the cars. My 1026 escape is pretty bad as well but the 2013 Taurus we did have was very great.
Yeah that seems to be the problem with all of ours Gary's 150. I had a 2015 Ford Escape and the rearview camera was awesome. I don't know if it's the lights, the camera, or the placement of the camera. Trying to get some light shed on this. But yes, mine shows red blacktop and grass and it's very grainy and hard to see at night. Daytime rearview is great. My next step is to take it in a well lit place at night and see if that does anything. Still investigating and researching.
Thanks for the feed back. My F-150 has the LED lights, including the back up lights. I hate to say it, but my 2014 Honda Civic's back up camera is great, day or night. I wonder if there is some type of lens that could block out the red lights.
Thanks for the reply. I'm debating getting one of those light bars that goes between the tail gate and bumper. They have a row of LED lights that change from red to white when in reverse. You wouldn't think you would have to do that.
