Forward front springs??

I have a 53 f100. I do not really want to lower it but that front axle not being centered bugs the crap out of me. I heard that the panel trucks had centered leaf springs. Is this true? If it is I could just find a set of those. If not can I re-drill the stock springs and move the axle forward?

You can buy the springs new with the pin in the forward location in either stock height or lowered. Below is the stock.

I had poised the question awhile back if maybe we could have it drilled forfward and just use a new center bolt. Can this be done ?

A F100 panel truck would not be any different than a F100 pickup. Both use the same axle and leaf springs.

I too would like to know if i could just have the springs re-drilled. Nothing is wrong with mine, would just like the wheels centered.

Look at your existing springs. Are all but the main leaf drilled in the center already? and just the main leaf is drilled with the offset? I would expect that is the case, but I don't have a mid-fifty. If that is the case, I would have a new main leaf made, with the corrected hole location, and re-use the rest. Personally I'm not a fan of drilling springs, especially near the center pin, because it's a stress riser.

The springs on 53-56 were drilled 1.25 back from the factory so the tires sit towards the back of the opening. It was to make turning easier. I do not like the look, all the springs are drilled in the same spot, to locate the axle 1.25 back from center.

Has anybody re-drilled the stock springs? I have read about it being done on mono springs but not original springs.

Guys I too hate the look of being to far back but I agree with Ross. I think drilling ANY more holes I the spring in not a good idea. I been thinking about getting a new main leaf and trying that...or just going to the Panther front end...LOL.

Am I wrong in assuming the whole spring pack is drilled? Is just the main leaf drilled?

They're all drilled. I don't know how the spring would behave with the other leaves asymmetrical tho.

I guess the only option is to buy new springs. What a bummer.
