Question 460 Engine Block Heater

Anyone know location of softplug in 460 engine where a block heater goes?
I bought a Kat's block heater from LMC, model 11606. (now find that that model number does not even appear on Kat's site. Maybe it's the wrong one.)

What is best way to remove soft plug? Help! Direction sheet says use a punch - the last time I saw a guy do this he "punched" the softplug right into the water jacket, irretrievably lost! In my Yoda.

I do know that the "6" in the model number means 600 watts, quite a lot when you think about it - I would prefer a 400 watt. We get cold, but below zero rare.

Also, is a radiator -hose heater better?

Thanks for any advice!!

You mean a core/freeze plug?

An old skool dent puller can excise a freeze plug... the kind that screws into the metal.

Otherwise, a chisel to create a hole and then a stron screwdriver to pry it out.

I removed five of them very easily yesterday. Tap one side with a punch. It will start to rotate in. The other side will rotate out. Grab it with channelocks and twist it out

Expansion plug number six was a block heater. Destroyed that during the removal, and pulled out the pieces with a flexible retrieval tool

We have radiator hose heaters in our farm tractors. We also have some that are in the block, both do the same thing. I'm sure in the block is maybe a little faster.
